The California Public Utilities Commission has issued an order establishing a new proceeding (Docket No. R1407002) to address the net energy metering successor tariff and related issues. The activities related to the net metering successor tariff will include the development of guiding principles, program elements and specific features of the eventual tariff, a “public tool” for estimating costs and benefits under different scenarios, and net metering contract or tariff options and associated analysis in the context of A.B. 327.

The rulemaking might also address include virtual net metering, multi-family housing applications, meter aggregation, and tariffs for biogas generators and fuel cells.
