NV: PUC energy-storage investigation gains steam

Nevada’s investigation into energy storage is plowing forward, after a lengthy initial hibernation period. The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada is currently compiling a list of interconnection-related issues submitted by docket participants, which include the Energy Storage Association, Tesla and both NV Energy utilities.

It has also scheduled two workshops. The first workshop, held August 3, addressed the valuation of energy storage. The second workshop, which will be held September 13, will address energy storage issues pertaining to utility planning and distribution. In addition, the PUC has invited comments on energy storage issues related to utility planning and distribution.

In June, the PUC re-characterized this proceeding from an investigation into “battery storage” to an investigation into “energy storage.”
