MI: Smaller utilities invited to submit rate design proposals

The Michigan Public Service Commission has advised eight smaller electric utilities that they may choose to file applications by June 17, 2016, that examine the cost allocation methods and rate design methods they use to set rates for customers, pursuant to P.A. 169 of 2014. The PSC’s order (Case No. U-17711 et al.) applies to Alpena Power Company, Northern States Power Company – Wisconsin, Upper Peninsula Power Company, Wisconsin Electric Power Company, Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, Cloverland Electric Cooperative, Midwest Energy Cooperative and Thumb Electric Cooperative.

The PSC has already issued similar orders that apply to DTE, Indiana Michigan Power and Consumers Energy. Those three utilities are required to submit proposals.
