MI: PSC investigating rate design for DTE, Consumers Energy

Pursuant to legislation enacted in June 2014, the Michigan Public Service Commission has opened two rate design dockets, and directed DTE (Docket U-17689) and Consumers Energy (Docket U-17688) to file applications that examine the cost allocation methods and rate design methods they use to set rates for electric customers. The proposals must use the 50-25-25 method of functional cost allocation (subject to future PSC modification), and must explore how rates should be designed based on cost of service to support competitive and affordable rates for all classes.

The deadline for the utilities to file proposals is October 6, 2014.
