A New York bill (A10150) that amends the existing solar property tax abatement in New York City has been passed and is currently awaiting the Governor’s signature. The current tax abatement is 5% of the eligible solar system or $62,500, whichever is less, and this bill would extend the in-service eligibility deadline from 2019 to 2021 for solar PV systems. The abatement may be claimed for four consecutive years (i.e., potentially providing an incentive equivalent to 20% of system costs).
