NY: Higher fixed charges for Central Hudson customers?

Central Hudson Gas & Electric has filed a rate case application that would significantly raise monthly fixed charges for certain customers. Central Hudson’s proposal includes a 25% increase — from $24 to $30 — in the fixed monthly charge for Residential Flat Rate Service (SC-1) customers, and a 26% increase — from $27 to $34 — in the fixed monthly charge for Residential TOU Service (SC-6). For Small Non-Demand General Service (SC-2), the fixed monthly charge would rise by 20%, from $35 to $42.

Central Hudson’s proposal falls in line with a general utility trend of seeking higher fixed monthly charges for non-demand customers. The proposal was filed with the New York Public Service Commission on July 25, 2014.
