The Commonwealth Utilities Commission of the Northern Mariana Islands will issue an RFP for supply-side energy resources on November 20, 2014. The RFP, which seeks proposals for renewables projects and conventional energy projects, is related to the development of the CUC’s comprehensive Integrated Resource Plan. The CUC indicated that it plans to support up to 40 MW of new projects, with opportunities for expansion, while specifying that “long-term price stability and affordability are of paramount importance.”

A pre-proposal conference and webinar is scheduled for December 4, 2014. The proposal deadline is January 20, 2015.

The CUC is a semi-autonomous government corporation of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The CUC currently serves 15,370 customers, with a peak load of 35 MW, on the three main islands of CNMI:  Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
